1. Bullets Topple W&L in Top-10 Showdown

Emily Crane, Gettysburg

Emily Crane scored five goals, while Sarah Scollin added four goals and an assist as #9 Gettysburg defeated #4 Washington and Lee, 15-7. The Bullets (3-0) outscored the Generals (3-2), 6-1, over the final 30 minutes.

Top-ranked Middlebury (1-0) extended its win streak to 52 with a resounding 15-6 triumph over #21 Amherst. Skylar Lach scored five goals for the Panthers, who tallied the first six scores of the game to take control. Margie Carden scored the 200th goal of her career as #2 Tufts (2-0) routed Roger Williams, 20-7, for the Jumbos’ second win in as many days. Devyn Crone scored with four seconds remaining to lift #3 Franklin & Marshall past #20 York, 12-11.

Denison scored three times in the final 6:49 to overtake #4 Washington and Lee, 14-12. Michael Cassidy tied the score, before Drew Merschel broke the deadlock just 64 seconds late. Tommy Quinson put the icing on the cake just 1:16 after that.

#2 Salisbury jumped out to an 8-4 lead at the half and defeated #18 Lynchburg, 18-13. Brice Bromwell had 4-3 for the Sea Gulls (5-0). #16 Amherst outscored #9 Middlebury, 8-1, in the second half to put down the Panthers, 16-7. Bennett Chow scored four times for the Mammoths. #8 Bowdoin overcame a 12-10 deficit after three periods to defeat Trinity, 16-15. Patrick Fitzgerald had 4-2 for the Polar Bears.

Kins Helmer scored midway through the fourth quarter as #7 Colby defeated #8 Wesleyan, 9-8, in the NESCAC opener for both teams. Amy Ball scored twice and the Shenandoah defense shut out #16 Christopher Newport in the second half as the Hornets downed the Captains, 7-3. Calista Burke tallied four goals while Molly Green and Alexis Lowry each posted a hat trick to power Rowan past #17 Stevens, 13-6.

Grace Osborn found the back of the net nine times as Capital (3-1) routed Kalamazoo, 25-11. She now has 420 goals in her career (not a typo). SUNY Maritime senior Gabrielle Nicolosi handed out nine assists and registered 15 points as the Privateers defeated Ramapo, 18-6. She surpassed the 250-point mark for her career (148-104-252). Worcester State sophomore GK Olivia LaValle turned away 22 shots as the Lancers (3-0) downed Southern Maine, 10-8.

#17 Babson and #20 Union were upset victims. Williams outscored the Beavers, 4-1, in a decisive fourth period behind a pair of goals from Ryan Nagle to pull out a 9-7 victory. Springfield earned its first win over a ranked opponent in three seasons, defeating the Garnet Chargers, 11-10, as Kevin Tierney scored six times. Gavin Jones scored eight goals and set the school career scoring record as Westminster waxed Hiram, 19-2. Southwestern’s Cade McDonald also had eight goals in a 19-8 triumph against Virginia Wesleyan. Max Esposito dished out seven helpers as Concordia (Wis.) fell to North Central, 19-12.
