1. Shake Down the Thunder. Trine Topples Top-Seeded Hope in MIAA

Luke Arnold, Trine

Fifth-seeded Trine stunned top-seeded Hope, 8-6, to advance to its first-ever MIAA championship. The Thunder will take on Albion for the title on Friday.

Mitchell Voglewede led the way with three goals and one assist, as the Thunder defeated the Dutch for the first time since 2016. Luke Arnold turned away 13 shots in cage for Trine.

» Other Games of Note. Third-seeded Albion went on the road and edged #2 Adrian, 12-11, to advance to the MIAA final. Fifth-seed Randolph-Macon outscored rival Hampden-Sydney, 3-1, in the decisive fourth quarter to down the No. 4 Tigers, 11-9, in an ODAC quarterfinal. Sixth-seeded Susquehanna shocked three-seed Drew, 13-7, in a Landmark quarterfinal. Ithaca took to the road and toppled Skidmore, 14-4, in a Liberty League quarterfinal between the 4-5 seeds, while Keene State did the same to Massachusetts Maritime, 14-11, in the Little East quarters.

2. River Hawks Shock Greyhounds in Landmark Quarterfinal

Liv Owen, Susquehanna

Allie Kutler scored five goals, while Liv Owen handed out five assists as fifth-seed Susquehanna traveled to Bethlehem and defeated No. 4 Moravian, 13-8, in a Landmark quarterfinal contest.

Tied at six at the intermission, the River Hawks scored the Greyhounds, 8-1, the rest of the way to advance to the semis against top-seeded Scranton. Aerin O’Brien turned away 18 Moravian shots for SU. Jackie Salvatore had 3-2 for the ‘Hounds.

» Other Games of Note. Three-seed RIT needed an overtime goal from Zoe Heffernan to dispatch No. 6 St. Lawrence, 13-12, in a Liberty League quarterfinal. Eastern Connecticut went up to New Hampshire and came home with a 15-9 win over Keene State in a LEC quarter. Natalie Moul scored two fourth-period goals as Randolph-Macon held off Lynchburg, 13-12, in an ODAC elite eight game.

It’s conference championship week in DIII men’s lacrosse and 27 teams will earn automatic qualification into the NCAA championship tournament when they hoist conference hardware this weekend.

Given the certainties of the NCAA Power Index (NPI), we have a pretty good idea who is already locked into the 40-team field. But there are teams residing on the NPI bubble that need to run the table or reach their conference final and get some help to continue dancing this spring.

6. Lightning Round ⚡️ 

» NACDA Good Works Team. “The inaugural Allstate NACDA Good Works Team, a powerhouse group of 20 student-athletes who are leading in their sport, in the classroom and in communities across the country, was announced Tuesday. Marymount’s Taylor Chepren is the lone DIII representative. She mentors youth at Woodbury Park and organizes holiday support for hundreds of families. Chepren champions causes like Boldly Gold Pediatric Cancer Foundation and Morgan's Message, while leading campus efforts through Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) initiatives that have supported local hospitals and food banks.”

» Honors (M). Ohio Wesleyan’s Henry Ross scored five goals as the Battling Bishops upended Denison for the NCAC championship and earned USA Lacrosse DIII Player of the Week honors.

» Honors (W). Franklin & Marshall junior Lauren Pittman scored nine times with six assists as the Diplomats secured the top seed for the Centennial tournament with victories over Ursinus and Muhlenberg. For that, she was honored as the USA Lacrosse DIII Player of the Week.
