1. Hamilton Ousts Wesleyan in NESCAC Quarters; W&L Upends Lynchburg For ODAC Top Seed

Thomas Healy scored the game-winning goal with just 15 seconds left as visiting Hamilton (9-6) stunned Wesleyan, 10-9, in the NESCAC quarterfinals.

It was the Continentals’ first win over the Cardinals (11-4) in 17 tries and sends Hamilton to the semifinals opposite Bowdoin.

Trailing 9-6, Wesleyan rallied with three straight goals from Will Miller, including the third for the natural hat trick with 1:42 remaining. Healy took a pass from Frank Coyle, ran a few steps to his left and whipped a left-handed shot that bounced into the back of the net from about 15 yards out.

Elsewhere …

In a wild one in Lynchburg that saw the teams combine for 32 goals, including 10 in the final 15 minutes, Washington and Lee toppled Lynchburg, 17-15, to secure the top seed for this week’s ODAC tournament.

Finn Schmidt tied the game at 15 for the Hornets with 2:55 remaining, but Tucker Davis answered just 10 seconds later to give the Generals the lead for good. James Haley had four goals and two assists for W&L, while Riley Hastings had 5-2 for Lynchburg.

Bates advanced to the NESCAC final four for the first time since 2017 as the visiting Bobcats upended Amherst, 12-7. The win avenged a 20-8 loss inflicted by the Mammoths on March 14. Connor Hartman led Bates with four goals. The other NESCAC quarterfinals went according to chalk, as Bowdoin and Tufts registered wins. The Polar Bears improved to 15-0 with a 22-4 rout of Williams and will host the league’s semifinals and final this weekend. The Jumbos (15-1) took it to Middlebury, 21-11, as Jack Regnery had a seven-point day.

Elmhurst won the CCIW championship with a 16-12 win against visiting Illinois Wesleyan. Eli Spence powered the Bluejays with eight goals, equaling his career best. Elmhurst is the top seed for the CCIW tournament that determines the league’s AQ.

Salisbury (14-3) won the “War On The Shore” with a 6-4 win against Washington College. And the first ticket to the NCAA tournament has been punched, as Transylvania won the Heartland Conference crown, shutting out Hanover, 23-0.

2. Top Four Advance in NESCAC Tourney

For the fifth time in six years the top four seeds in the NESCAC Women's Lacrosse Championship advanced to the semifinals. Top-seeded Middlebury will host the remaining rounds of the championship at Peter Kohn Field on May 2-3.

The Panthers blitzed Bates, 18-6, as Haley Hamilton scored four goals as Middlebury improved to 16-0. Elizabeth Savage registered seven saves between the pipes. Next up is Trinity, after the Bantams edged Amherst, 9-8. Lily Acerra broke open a 7-7 contest with a goal with 3:25 remaining and Kaeley Zito provided an insurance tally with 81 seconds left. Alex Lesko scored four goals and Kelsey Restivo handed out four assists for Trinity.

Tufts rocketed to an 8-0 lead after the first 15 minutes and cruised past Colby, 20-7. It was a huge day for Allie Zorn as the senior had a career-high seven goals and an assist. Schuyler Lloyd added 4-1 for the Jumbos (14-2). Tufts will meet Wesleyan in the other semifinal, after the Cardinals (14-2) stunned Williams with 13 unanswered goals on their way to a 14-3 victory. Dylan Green scored five times for Wesleyan, while the defense held the Ephs scoreless for more than 49 consecutive minutes.

Elsewhere

TCNJ outscored Rowan, 10-0, in the middle two periods to run away from the Profs, 14-7, and clinch the NJAC regular-season title. Marissa Lucca continued her hot streak with seven goals and three assists for the Lions (14-2, 5-0). It is her fourth consecutive game with double-digits in points and she surpassed the 300-point mark for her career. Elaina Corson and Trish Gillen each had two scores for Rowan (13-3, 4-1).

A fast start and a smothering defense allowed William Smith to take down Washington and Lee, 10-5, at a neutral field in Sparks, Md. The Herons (15-2) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Grace Rund led William Smith with a hat trick and Casey Fiore made five saves.

Salisbury closed out a perfect regular-season with a 15-9 win against Christopher Newport. It is the third undefeated regular-season campaign for the Gulls (16-0). Grace Doyle led the way with four goals, while Lauren Hackett added 2-2.

Carroll won its second consecutive CCIW regular-season crown with a hard-earned 8-6 road win at Carthage. The Pioneers (14-2, 5-0) trailed 6-5 midway through the final period before a pair of Lauren Fricke tallies gave the visitors a 7-6 advantage, Sierra Skack added the insurance goal with 60 seconds remaining.

Rhodes claimed the SAA regular-season championship with a 16-7 win at Sewanee. Caroline Kardian powered the Lynx (13-3, 5-0) with five goals and four assists, while Payton Stevens added 4-1.

3. Lightning Round

» The North Coast regular season ended with a five-way tie for first place, as Wooster, Oberlin, Ohio Wesleyan, Kenyon and Denison all concluded conference play at 6-2. It is the first-ever title for the Yeomen and the first for the Scots since 2004.
