We cover DIII lacrosse like no other publication. #d3lax #whyD3

🥍 Note from the Publisher. I thank you for your interest and support of D3Lacrosse. The response from coaches and fans has been positive and I hope to grow the newsletter and the website moving forward. But to do that, I need to make a significant change.

Beginning Monday, the D3Lacrosse newsletter will move to a paid subscription model. Mondays will continue to be free for all, but to receive access to the newsletter Tuesday-Friday will require a subscription.

The subscription fee will be nominal for what will be 22 editions per month - $7.99 per month or $19.99 for the season.

The time and effort that goes into producing a daily newsletter for DIII lacrosse is extensive and I ask that you support us with a subscription to allow us to continue to bring you the best in DIII men’s and women’s lacrosse information.

TOP STORY

1. Planting the Seed: How Centenary (La.) is Breaking Records and Building Community

Instagram post

“The scorelines are shocking: 27-10, 21-11, 29-7, 28-2. The individual numbers even more: Gavin Ferrington, 95% face-off wins. Noah Walsh, 11 assists in one game. And most historically significant, Gamble Harvill, 14 goals in one game.

But this is not a story about goals and assists and a rewriting of the NCAA record book.

It’s a story about community. It’s a story about growing the sport. It’s about righting a wrong and fulfilling a dashed lacrosse dream. It’s about how a love for lacrosse started in Northern Illinois and soured in Northern Ohio can find deeper roots in Northwest Louisiana.”

» State of Play. “Centenary (La.) is a private liberal arts college with fewer than 750 people, located in Shreveport, La., in the Northwest corner of Louisiana — the opposite side from New Orleans, about five hours away. It’s closer to Dallas, which is less than three hours away. It’s not a program that’s traditionally had success: They won one game from 2013-2020.”

» Between The Lines. “That makes the 2026 start so eye-opening, going 5-0 through February, scoring more than 20 goals in five of those and winning by an average of 15.4 goals per game. They are the kind of results that — no matter what level of the sport or what part of the country — warrant intrigue. The secret isn’t much of a secret: It’s the confluence of a coach who’s bought in and made it his mission to not only give to his program but to grow the sport organically in the area, and players who have been ignited by that spark.”

» The Big Picture. “For Billy LeClair, the benefit is greater than his program. It’s for all the kids, who he hopes will continue to look even outside Centenary and make an impact nationwide. “I want to grow it. I want kids to go Division I from the state. I want kids to go play for a high Division III school or Division II school. But also know that Centenary is right here. Our school's amazing. If you want to stay home and rep your state and your hometown, it's available and really make a name for yourself.”
