1. Saturday Stunners

Connor Hartman, Bates | photo by John Werner

It was a Saturday full of stunners as the month of February came to a close.

Lynchburg handed Salisbury its first regular-season loss at home since 2019, downing the second-ranked Sea Gulls, 14-11. It was also the first win for the Hornets on the Eastern Shore against Salisbury since 2003.

A Matej Roth unassisted goal with 9:25 left gave Lynchburg a 12-8 lead before the Gulls came storming back. The second goal from Trent Lucovich pulled the hosts to within 12-11 with 3:50 remaining, but a Riley Hastings tally with less than a minute to goal was the clincher.

Joey Allen scored five goals and added three helpers as Babson (3-0) recorded its highest-ranked win in program history, taking down No. 4 RIT, 16-12. The Beavers, who never trailed in the contest, also received a hat trick from Camden Matthews and a career-best performance from GK Andrew Almquist who turned away 21 Tiger shots.

And Bates opened NESCAC play with a bang, upsetting No. 6 Wesleyan, 13-11. The Bobcats ran out to an 11-6 lead after three periods and withstood a late Cardinal charge to improve to 3-0. Connor Hartman led the offense for Bates with four goals, while GK Andrew Toland stopped 20 Wesleyan shots.
