1. Tufts Gets No. 1 Seed

Tufts, Salisbury, RIT and Christopher Newport were the top four seeds as the 40-team NCAA DIII men’s lacrosse championship bracket was unveiled on Sunday night.
The undefeated Jumbos (16-0) are the No. 1 seed after capturing the NESCAC title with a 22-10 victory over Wesleyan. Salisbury (19-0) is second, following a thrilling 13-12 overtime win against the Captains (16-3) to win the Coastal Lacrosse Conference crown. RIT is the three-seed after holding off St. Lawrence, 11-10, to win the Liberty League title, while CNU is in the No. 4 spot.

Michael Leahy scored in overtime to lift No. 2 Salisbury past No. 4 Christopher Newport, 13-12, for the Sea Gulls’ first Coastal Lacrosse Conference title and eighth consecutive conference championship overall.
The Captains (16-3) held a 11-9 lead with just under 13 minutes remaining, before the Gulls (19-0) reeled off three goals in a span on 4:19 from Riley Strub, Leahy, and Brice Bromwell to lead by a goal with 2:13 left. CNU’s Brett Jackson tallied with 97 seconds remaining to force the extra time and Leahy’s heroics.

3. Wesleyan Ends Middlebury’s 67-Game Unbeaten Streak

Wesleyan defeated Middlebury, 13-10, in a NESCAC semifinal matchup for the Cardinals’ first win ever against the Panthers and snapping the Vermont squad’s 67-game unbeaten streak. Kiara Tangney led Wes with four goals, while Mya Waryas and Sam DeLeo added three goals and one assist apiece.
The Panthers remain the top seed in the country, according to the latest NPI numbers, followed by Tufts, who downed the Cardinals, 13-7, to win the NESCAC championship. Franklin & Marshall defeated Gettysburg, 12-7, to win the Centennial title and jump to No. 3 in the NPI. St. John Fisher improved to 18-0 with a 13-6 triumph vs. Geneseo for the Empire 8 crown, while Sewanee also remains spotless after a 10-7 win against Rhodes for the SAA trophy.
