1. Tufts Tops Early Polls

“Stevens moves up five spots in the latest KANE Men’s DIII Rankings after a season-opening victory against Dickinson. We’re still waiting for back-to-back champion Tufts to make its debut, and that won’t happen until the end of the month when it opens Feb. 28.

Grove City enters this week’s Top 20, swapping with Ohio Wesleyan. Lots of teams are knocking on the door, and we're just getting started.”

2. Tuesday Roundup

Preston Blue, Franklin & Marshall

Routs were the order of the day on a light Tuesday schedule. Franklin & Marshall recorded its first shutout in 25 years with a 16-0 whitewashing of Messiah. Preston Blue had four goals and three assists for the Diplomats (2-0). Grove City put the hammer down on Franciscan, 31-8, as freshman Jake Parker had seven goals and seven assists. Skidmore hung a 23-spot on Hartwick, downing the Hawks, 23-6. The Thoroughbreds led 17-3 at the break. And freshman Brendan Robinson recorded a hat trick as Westminster tripped up Marietta, 9-3.

No surprise at the top of the USA Lacrosse Magazine DIII women’s top 10 this week. Middlebury and Tufts begin regular-season play on Feb. 28 along with the rest of the NESCAC.

Big numbers were put on the scoreboard on Tuesday around DIII women’s lacrosse. Washington and Lee rebounded from an opening-game loss with a 24-1 trouncing of Guilford as 18 players found the back of the net. Meredith scored 13 first-quarter goals on its way to a 24-1 thumping of Greensboro, as Reece Walker and Kenzie Todd combined for eight goals and five assists. Kalamazoo tossed a shutout at Elmhurst, 23-0. Ella Spooner scored seven times, while Abbie Caza tallied six goals.

6. North Atlantic (M) Preview

Maine Maritime is our choice to win its fourth North Atlantic Conference title in the last five years in 2026. Tobey Lappin and Ryan Dunstan make a potent 1-2 on offense for the Mariners, while Finn O’Donnell is the headliner on defense. SUNY Delhi could make another run at the crown with the return of Jagger Beachak and Chris Lazazzaro who combined for 110 goals a year ago.

Pomona-Pitzer is our preseason favorite to capture its fifth consecutive Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s championship. The Sagehens return preseason All-American Shelby Stanton on defense, along with Caroline Donegan, and Izzy Sabatino to form a potent backline, while River Buechner is the headliner at midfield. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps was the only SCIAC team to stay within a goal of its archrival a year ago and welcome back Grace Minturn and Amelia Ulmer on attack, along with draw control machine Julia Ryan.

“The USA South Athletic Conference's women's lacrosse coaches have released their 2026 preseason poll. Meredith was placed atop the rankings thanks to receiving 81 total points and nine of the possible ten first place votes. Piedmont sits second in the poll with 72 total points and the remaining first place vote while Methodist rounded out the top-three with 63 points.”

9. Presidents (W) Preview

“Grove City College, winners of back-to-back conference titles, was voted first in the 2026 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll. Grove City, led by second-year head coach Emma Olson, gathered eight first-place votes in scoring 89 points to claim the top spot in this year's preseason balloting. Only three points separated the next three teams in the voting, with Washington & Jefferson College, aided by the final two first-place votes, earning 76 points to come in second. The Presidents narrowly edged out 2025 PAC Tournament runner-up Chatham University, who was third with 74 points, and Westminster College, who had 73 points to rank fourth.”
