1. Middlebury Women Win 64th Straight, Turns Back Tufts 16-15

The Middlebury women won their 64th consecutive match, edging second-ranked Tufts, 16-15. The Panthers improved to 13-0 overall and 8-0 in the NESCAC, while the Jumbos dropped to 12-1, 7-1.

Tied at 4 after one period, Middlebury outscored Tufts, 9-5, over the middle two frames to forge a 13-9 lead after three quarters. Trailing 15-10 with under 12 minutes to play, the visitors scored five of the last six goals to pull within one but came up short.

Hope Shue led the Panthers with four goals and four assists, while Skylar Lach added a hat trick. Margie Carden led Tufts with five tallies.

2. #3 RIT Men Needs Fourth-Quarter Rally to Corral Clarkson, 13-10

Trailing 8-7 after three periods, #3 RIT exploded for six fourth-quarter goals to win on the road over upset-minded Clarkson, 13-10.

The Golden Knights (8-5) led 8-5 with 8:57 left in the third on a tally from Vincent Lavarnway before the Tigers (14-1) began their comeback. Scores from Ian Dinga and Ethan Harkins made it a one-goal game with 15 to play. Two-goal runs by each team saw Clarkson still in front by a 10-9 count with 4:39 remaining in regulation.

Dinga’s third of four goals on the day tied the game with 3:43 left and Ryan Bullock put RIT ahead for good just 40 seconds later.

3. Around the Country

Region I (CNE, GNAC, LEC, NESCAC, NEWMAC). Endicott (10-3, 6-0) is one win away from securing the CNE regular-season crown after a 20-5 thumping of Wentworth (10-4, 3-2). Nick Graap scored five times with three assists for the Gulls. Emmanuel (8-5, 5-0) and Rivier (10-1, 3-0) won their warmups before Wednesday’s GNAC North showdown. The Saints drilled Albertus Magnus, 20-2, while the Raiders downed USJ, 10-7. Matthew Hutchings had a 12-point day (7-5) as UMass Boston blasted Eastern Connecticut, 24-8. #23 Babson (10-3, 4-1) took care of Salve Regina (11-3, 4-1), 14-8, knocking the Seahawks out of first place in the NEWMAC.

Region II (E8, Liberty, NAC, Skyline, SUNYAC, UEC). Nazareth and St. John Fisher moved closer to Saturday’s showdown in Rochester for the E8 regular-season title. The Golden Flyers (9-4, 5-0) edged Geneseo, 10-9, while the Cardinals (9-4) put the wood to SUNY Poly, 32-7, as 18 different players found the back of the net. #3 RIT (14-1, 5-0) fought back from an 8-7 deficit after three periods to take down Clarkson (8-5, 1-3), 13-10. Sixteen different Cortland (11-2, 4-0) players scored goals as the #15 Red Dragons routed SUNY Canton, 30-3, despite 35 saves from Hayden Todd for the Roos. Brendan Reddington handed out 11 assists with two goals as Maine Maritime blasted MCLA, 29-3. Hayden Schuler made 33 stops in a losing cause.

Region III (AEC, Centennial, Coastal, Landmark, MACC, MACF). Marymount and Immaculata tuned up for Wednesday’s clash for first in the Atlantic East with victories. The Saints (9-4, 3-0) easily dispatched Centenary, 25-2, while the Mighty Macs (9-4, 3-0) upended Marymount, 8-4. Muhlenberg (7-7, 3-2) held #17 Franklin & Marshall (10-3, 4-1) scoreless for more than 47 minutes, knocking the Diplomats from first in the Centennial with a 9-3 triumph. Scranton (7-8, 7-0) took over sole possession of first in the Landmark with a 14-4 win over Elizabethtown (8-6, 6-1), as Kyle Holmes scored four goals. #12 Stevenson (10-3, 3-0) and #10 York (10-3, 3-0) prepared for Wednesday’s matchup for the top spot in the MAC Commonwealth with wins over Alvernia and Eastern, respectively. Stevens (9-3, 3-0, Arcadia (9-4, 3-0) and DeSales (6-7, 3-0) all remained perfect in MAC Freedom play with victories. The Ducks and the Bulldogs meet on Wednesday in Hoboken.

Region IV (OAC, ODAC, PAC, SAA, USA South). Roanoke outscored Hampden-Sydney, 18-14, to keep pace with W&L in the ODAC standings. Clayton Bewick scored five times for the Maroons (10-4, 6-1). Chatham (9-5, 4-1) knocked Saint Vincent (7-6, 4-1) out of a tie for first in the PAC with a 12-5 win, as Tanner Marsh scored seven goals.

Region V (CCIW, HCMLC, MIAA, NCAC, NACC). #16 Denison (9-4) jumped out to an 11-4 lead at the intermission and handed #11 Elmhurst (10-1) its first loss of the season, 17-12. Tommy Quinson had six goals and an assist for the Big Red. Illinois Wesleyan (10-2, 2-0) stayed atop the CCIW with an 11-9 win vs. Carthage (9-4, 0-2). Calvin (6-8, 3-3) edged Trine (11-3, 1-2), 13-12, as David Blackmon scored the game-winner with :02 left. Wooster (6-5, 2-1) knocked Kenyon (9-4, 4-1) from the ranks of the NCAC unbeaten with a 13-8 victory. Dubuque (7-6, 6-2) went on the road and downed Lake Forest (7-6, 6-2), 13-8, in the NACC. Aiden Ennett scored four times for the Spartans.

4. Around the Nation

Region I (GNAC, LEC, NAC, NESCAC). JWU (9-3, 5-0) and Dean (7-5, 4-1) are set for their GNAC South clash on Wednesday after wins against USJ and Albertus Magnus. Plymouth State (10-2, 4-0) took over first in the Little East with an 11-10 win at #14 WestConn (11-2, 4-1). Elle Moshier scored the game-winner on a free position with 10.8 remaining.

Region II (CNE, MASCAC, NEWMAC). #22 Springfield (12-1, 7-0) kept pace with Babson in the race for first place in the NEWMAC with a resounding 19-5 win at Wellesley. Lily Johnson had a 4-1 day. MIT awaits the Pride on Wednesday. The Engineers (7-7, 6-1) blasted Salve Regina, 19-3, as Annica Lam scored nine times. Suffolk’s Ally Colburn scored 10 goals as the Rams defeated Gordon, 18-15.

Region III (E8, Liberty, NJAC, Skyline, SUNYAC). Geneseo (7-6, 4-1) bounced Nazareth (8-5, 4-1) from the ranks of the E8 unbeaten with a 21-11 home win. Rosemary Mahoney had three goals and four assists for the Knights. RIT (9-4, 5-2) fell at Clarkson, 14-11, giving #25 William Smith (9-3, 7-0) a two-game lead atop the Liberty League. Oswego (10-2, 6-0) moved into sole possession of the top spot in the SUNYAC with a 19-7 win over Plattsburgh, combined with New Paltz’s (10-3, 5-1) 15-5 win vs. Buffalo State (11-3, 5-1). The Lakers got two goals and six assists from Mackenzie Winn. The Hawks were paced by Kaitlyn Shaw’s 5-1 performance.

Region IV (AEC, Centennial, Landmark, MACC, MACF). #4 Gettysburg (11-2, 3-1) scored four of the final five goals of the contest to overcome an 11-9 deficit with 8:49 left and down #19 Haverford (9-4, 2-2), 13-12, in the Centennial. #24 Messiah (11-3, 5-0) and #13 York (10-3, 3-0) remained spotless in MAC Commonwealth play with victories over Albright and Eastern, respectively. Lebanon Valley (10-4, 4-0) and Stevens (9-4, 4-0) did the same in the MAC Freedom, defeating Delaware Valley and FDU-Florham.

Region V (C2C, ODAC, SAA, USA South). Christopher Newport (7-6, 1-0) opened C2C play with a 17-3 thumping of #18 Mary Washington (10-3, 0-1), as Faith O’Connor had 5-1. #20 Salisbury (10-3) turned back #10 TCNJ (9-3), 9-5, as Grace Doyle scored four times. Shenandoah (10-5, 6-1) defeated Lynchburg (11-4, 5-3), 15-6, in ODAC play, as Ayla Jantz scored five goals. Name the four unbeatens in DIII? If you guessed Sewanee (14-0, 4-0) along with Middlebury, John Carroll and St. John Fisher, you are correct. The #12 Tigers easily put away Hendrix, 19-4. Piedmont (11-5, 7-1) edged Methodist (9-6, 6-2), 11-10, in a battle for second in the USA South.

Region VI (AMCC, HCWLC, NCAC, OAC, PAC, UEC). #9 Wooster (13-1, 3-0) edged DePauw (6-6, 2-1), 12-11, on an overtime goal by Kenzie Morris. Mount Union (10-4) went out-of-conference and defeated the PAC’s top team, Grove City (8-6), 19-8. Eden Kesler had 6-1 for the Raiders. Washington & Jefferson (7-4, 5-1) took over sole possession of second in the PAC with an 18-8 win over Westminster (9-3, 4-2). Mya Bolinda and Brynne Stewart each had 4-3 for the Presidents.

Region VII (CCIW, MIAA, NACC, NWC, SCIAC, WIAC). Carroll (8-3, 2-0) moved to 2-0 in the CCIW with a 17-6 thumping of Illinois Wesleyan. Elizabeth Wang led the way with 7-3. The top teams in the MIAA remained spotless in league play, as Hope (7-5, 3-0), Calvin (10-3, 3-0) and Trine (9-2, 4-0) all posted wins. The Flying Dutch and the Thunder meet on Wednesday. Aurora (9-5, 6-0) and Lake Forest (9-4, 6-0) tuned up for their Wednesday NACC showdown with victories vs. Lawrence and Concordia (Wis.), respectively. George Fox (7-4, 3-0) took over first place in the NWC with a 13-5 win over Willamette (6-5, 3-1), combined with Whitman’s (7-4, 3-1) 13-9 triumph at Linfield (7-4, 3-1). #23 Colorado College (15-2, 9-0) solidified its hold on first in the WIAC with a 16-5 win at UW-La Crosse (7-4, 3-2). Peyton Murphy scored four times for the Tigers.

WILLIAMS - “After eight seasons leading the Williams College women's lacrosse program, head coach Alice Lee has been named the next Director of Athletics at the Westridge School for Girls in Pasadena, California. She will officially assume her new role on July 1.”
