TOP STORY
1. #6 Rensselaer Entertains #7 Amherst in Inter-Region Matchup

The Wednesday slate of important DIII games is full, but the biggest may take place in the capital district of New York as #6 RPI welcomes #7 Amherst to ECAV Stadium.

The Engineers (12-1) are led by the 1-2 combination of Tyler Ruffini (27-29-56) and Easton Morse (31-16-47), while Joseph Perry has allowed just 7.53 goals per game with a 58.4 save percentage.

The Mammoths (9-2) have a pair of 20-goal scorers in Bennett Chow (20-11-31) and Alex Giacobbe (23-4-27). Brooks Catlin has played well in between the pipes with a 54.4 save percentage and a 7.77 GAA.

Amherst is 2-0 in the series, including a 14-12 win last season in Massachusetts.

2. Unbeatens Meet in NACC Showdown

In a game that would ordinarily fly under the radar, first place in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference is at stake when Aurora (9-5, 6-0) takes on Lake Forest (9-4, 6-0).

The Foresters are powered by the dynamic duo of Emma Sharp (38-50-88) and Jenna Doctor (70-13-83) who have combined for 108 goals and 171 points. Cecelia Adams has conceded 11.09 goals per outing with a 48.6 save percentage.

The Spartans have a more balanced attack with a trio of 30-goal scorers in Caley Russell (33-12-45), Kenly Axvig (32-10-42) and Brianna Peck (35-5-40). Rachel Wickey has started 10 games between the pipes with a 50.3 save percentage and a 9.74 GAA.

3. Gulls, Jumbos Top Men’s Lacrosse NPI Ranking

The top nine teams from last week remain in their same spot in the latest NCAA DIII men’s lacrosse power index with unbeatens Salisbury and Tufts leading the pack.

4. Profs, Gulls Make Big Moves

Rowan and Salisbury made the week’s biggest leaps in the NCAA DIII women’s lacrosse Power Index. The Profs used a victory against F&M to vault five spots from #11 to #6, while the Sea Gulls’ triumphs against Shenandoah and TCNJ allowed SU to jump 11 spots to No. 9.

5. Honors

» Men. Bowdoin’s Casey Ryan scored four goals and assisted on six others in a 19-8 win vs. Williams, earning him USA Lacrosse DIII Player of the Week honors.

» Women. William Smith’s Natalie Daniels was named the USA Lacrosse DIII Player of the Week, scoring six goals with an assist and 14 draw controls vs. Ithaca. Rowan’s Molly Green was named the IWLCA DIII Defensive Player of the Week after recording nine draw controls, eight ground balls and three caused turnovers in two wins. Lycoming’s Katie Maguire and Middlebury’s Hope Shue were named co-Offensive Players of the Week. Maguire had 16-3-19 with 22 draw controls in a 1-1 week. Shue posted 7-6-13 numbers with 13 draw controls in two victories.
